Who is Gino “Fuso” Carmignani?
His interpretation of viticulture is one of the most original, frank and evocative visions of the wine world that you can come across these days. Gino is rooted in the territory of Montecarlo as much as viticulture.
His approach to wine is almost detached. It is difficult to understand when the new vintages come out, impossible to expect consistency in the types produced and even less punctuality for appointments.

Gino is a character! The harvest from him is pure poetry, like his wine and the farmhouse he manages, ((Da Baffo) located between the rows of his vineyard.
The D.O.C Wine of Montecarlo – The History
The Denomination
The geographical area of the Montecarlo DOC appellation includes part of the territory of the Municipalities of Montecarlo, Altopascio, Capannori and Porcari, in the province of Lucca. The vines traditionally grown in the area were integrated thanks to the work of enlightened winemakers, already at the end of the 1800s, with vines of French origin, such as Sauvignon, Semillon, Merlot, Cabernet Franc and Cabernet Sauvignon from Bordolese, Roussanne and Syrah from the Rhône and from Burgundy the Pinot bianco and grigio. Precisely these vines, included in the Montecarlo DOC wine specification, have profoundly characterized the absolute singularity of these wines, which boast over a century of very happy acclimatization and harmonious roots in the territory. In this way, a harmonious blend was created between native wines and the so-called improvement vines of French origin.
